Hello Volunteers,

If you are looking for Volunteer opportunities at the Lake County History Center, we are in need of the following:

-  Receptionist:  Tuesday - Friday 10 AM to 12 PM and 12 PM to 4:00  PM.  We are looking for someone for 4 hour shifts one or two days     a week.

-  Light General Cleaning; Dusting, Vacuuming, freshening bathrooms

-  Help to set up, serve, and clean up for events (when needed).

-  Baking for event (Teas and other events)

-  Decorating for Halloween beginning the first of October.

-  Decorating for Christmas beginning the first of October.

-  Helping with Speakers Bureaus (We will train you and provide you with research that has already been done).

-  Building and Grounds - Mow lawns, trimming, weed, mulch, general maintenance of buildings and grounds.  Times are whenever 

   you are available. Schedules can be worked out.

                       Volunteers: THE HISTORY CENTER needs you!

Volunteers are the cornerstone of the Lake County History Center.  To let our programs expand, more hands are needed.

Wonder how you might help? No worries. Our needs are many & varied. Whether you are a behind the scenes type of person or one who likes to be involved with the public, our staff will be glad to find the perfect niche for you by utilizing YOUR unique interests, skills & schedule, offering you a fun & comfortable experience.

Volunteers help with varied events, act as History Center docents (tour guides), work with children in our school programs, help with grant writing, do light clerical work and help with site maintenance.

                                            Volunteer Needs

We are currently in need of the following volunteers:

General Museum Maintenance – shift is once a week any day you prefer, Tuesday – Friday. This position is responsible for doing weekly checks on the building and performing basic general maintenance (changing light bulbs, hanging signs, paint touch-ups, etc.), recommending and/or performing preventative maintenance. This position falls under our Buildings and Grounds Committee and reports to the Chair of that committee while working with day-to-day staff and volunteers.

Lake Historical – this position is responsible for the data entry and/or creation of our web-based walking and driving tours. A solid understanding of website CMS and online work is necessary. This position works with the Executive Director and requires 5-10 hours a month.

Pioneer School – multiple positions are open. The commitment is a minimum of 6 days, September – October. Working in Pioneer School ranges from interpreting life in 1824 to baking to making candles. Training and scripts are provided. You must be comfortable working with children in groups and providing supervision. This position falls under our Youth Education Department.

There will be free hotdogs, popcorn, ice tea as well as food trucks, music, dignitaries, historical costumes and more.
